Duo-Man turns iPhone Duo into a virtual Walkman
Indie developer Vidit Bhargava has shown off Duo-Man, an app designed specifically for Apple's foldable iPhone Duo. With the device open, users select music and insert a virtual cassette; folding the phone shut starts playback. The concept makes the hinge and dual displays part of the interaction rather than treating the app as a conventional music player.
To make the experience feel more authentic, Bhargava recorded button clicks and static noise from a real Walkman. The project began at a Bitrig hackathon, where it won second place, before attracting substantial attention on X. According to TechCrunch, the demo passed 1.8 million views and approached 10,000 likes.
Duo-Man is not yet available on the App Store, but its creator now intends to turn the hackathon project into a real app. Planned features include support for Apple Music and local audio files, plus an option to use Apple Pencil to roll the virtual cassette loop. Spotify support may be added later, although no release date has been confirmed.
