Apple opens submissions for iPhone Duo-optimized apps

Oct 5, 2026 · · AppDrop News

Apple has opened submissions for apps and games optimized for iPhone Duo, which will reach customers on October 23, 2026. Existing apps can be recompiled with Xcode 27.1, which adds development support for the new device.

Device Hub in Xcode lets developers inspect how their interfaces behave across the foldable device’s different poses and orientations. Apple has also published updated specifications for App Store screenshots and app previews, together with a preview tool for checking how a product page will look on iPhone Duo before submission.

Duo-optimized apps can be submitted through App Store Connect now. The key deadline is April 2027, when iPhone Duo screenshots will become mandatory for new app and game submissions. For users, this means Apple is preparing a catalog of software designed to take advantage of the new device’s layouts from the start of sales.

Context and what to check

For Apple devices and services, availability, features and launch timing can differ by market. AppDrop links to the original source and avoids presenting regional availability as universal unless it has been confirmed.

If the story affects a purchase or upgrade decision, check official specifications, local availability and support for the features that matter to you. The article gives a concise overview, while final compatibility and availability details should be confirmed with Apple or the developer.

This story does not mean that every mentioned feature or release is available on every device and in every region at the same time. Before acting on it, check the official release notes, App Store listing or Apple Support document linked as the source, especially when the change affects compatibility, pricing or data on your device.
