Report: Apple cuts iPhone 18 Pro component orders amid softer demand

Oct 9, 2026 · · AppDrop News

According to an October 9 Nikkei Asia report cited by Reuters, Apple has reportedly asked some suppliers to reduce components for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. October orders are said to be at least 15% below earlier plans.

The report points to softer demand and higher memory-chip costs as possible factors. Both new Pro models also start $100 above their predecessors.

These are not confirmed sales figures. Reuters says it could not independently verify the claims, and Apple had not immediately commented. Changes to component orders should not be treated as a definitive measure of customer demand.

Context and what to check

For Apple devices and services, availability, features and launch timing can differ by market. AppDrop links to the original source and avoids presenting regional availability as universal unless it has been confirmed.

If the story affects a purchase or upgrade decision, check official specifications, local availability and support for the features that matter to you. The article gives a concise overview, while final compatibility and availability details should be confirmed with Apple or the developer.

This story does not mean that every mentioned feature or release is available on every device and in every region at the same time. Before acting on it, check the official release notes, App Store listing or Apple Support document linked as the source, especially when the change affects compatibility, pricing or data on your device.
