Apple unveils groundbreaking MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display

Oct 28, 2026 · · AppDrop News

Apple announced a redesigned MacBook Pro on October 28, 2026, introducing its PROLED XDR tandem OLED display. The 14-inch and 16-inch models offer up to 2,000 nits of peak HDR and SDR brightness, a claimed 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz. Support for both P3 and Adobe RGB color spaces makes the screen particularly relevant to photographers, designers, and video editors.

The display is only part of the announcement. This is the first MacBook Pro with touch input, allowing users to scroll, pinch to zoom, drag objects, and interact directly with content while continuing to use the keyboard and trackpad. Apple says macOS 27 is optimized for this interaction and introduces Dynamic Island for alerts and live activities.

The laptop is powered by M5 Pro or M5 Max, with configurations offering up to 128GB of unified memory and 16TB of storage. Other highlights include up to 24 hours of claimed battery life, Thunderbolt 5 connectivity, and a 12MP Center Stage camera. Preorders opened October 28, with availability scheduled for November 6, 2026.

Brightness, battery life, and performance figures are manufacturer claims and can vary with configuration and usage. This report is based on Apple's official Newsroom announcement rather than earlier rumors.
