Apple unveiled a new iMac with the M6 chip on October 27, 2026. The all-in-one desktop keeps its compact design and 24-inch 4.5K Retina display while focusing on faster creative workflows, productivity, and on-device AI.
Depending on configuration, M6 provides up to a 12-core CPU and 12-core GPU. Apple claims up to twice the graphics performance of the M4 iMac in selected tasks, with additional gains in local AI processing. These figures are based on Apple's test conditions and will vary by application.
Connectivity improves with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, plus optional 2.5Gb Ethernet. Apple also highlights faster storage, up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports, and integrated camera, microphones, and speakers for calls and collaboration.
The new iMac is offered in blue, green, pink, yellow, purple, orange, and silver. It runs macOS 27 and supports Apple's latest intelligence features, although some capabilities depend on region, language, and software availability.
Preorders begin October 28 and general availability is scheduled for November 6. Buyers moving from an older Intel iMac should confirm app and peripheral compatibility before upgrading. This is a hardware announcement, not a temporary App Store deal.
